Based in Princeton, NJ, Generation Biotech provides tools for complex DNA analysis. Experience in single molecule analysis and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) typing led to the development of a molecular enrichment and haplotyping method for separating the maternal and paternal copies from a patient’s genomic DNA sample using magnetic particles.
The method was first used at Princeton University and subsequently automated to make the process simple, reliable and accessible to many users. HSE was commercialized in collaboration with GenoVision, Inc., that focused on the medical needs of the tissue typing/organ donor community. The resulting HaploPrep product resolves all genotyping ambiguities found in the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) gene region.
Generation Biotech continues to develop new technologies for the separation of genomic DNA, DNA-associated proteins and specific cells. Region Specific Extraction (RSE) captures specific genomic regions of interest and is used for mapping copy number and location of viral insertions and transposable genetic elements. These technologies advance the efforts of disease association studies, whole genome re-sequencing efforts, QTL mapping and plant breeding.
Generation Biotech and GenXPro of Frankfurt/Main, Germany, have successfully collaborated on research and development for biotech and biomedical applications for over 15 years. We cross-license and manufacture our products nationally for more efficient distribution to customers in the US, Europe and worldwide.
The recently developed single step SARS-CoV-2 variant screening assays have added to the success that GenXPro earned in 2020 and 2021 with their line of Covid-testing products in Germany and Europe. A certification of the current research-use-only kits for CE and possible FDA approval is currently being studied.
